CASE STUDY:

Election Night: A Tale of Optimism

In 2020, CSUITEMUSIC produced a short film titled Election Night, an independent film project written and directed by Peter Zerzan, a former Obama organizer. Election Night is the story of two organizers, one a veteran, the other a rookie, at a campaign office on election night in 2018. After a hard-fought campaign, they discuss their hopes, their trials, their regrets, and their fears. It is a story about those who work on campaigns, why people devote their lives to change, and why some people are so invested in politics. This is the tale of people who have organized, who have been inspired, and, even after setbacks, keep on fighting. It is a tale of optimism and a belief in a better future.

Led by our expert film team, we coordinated and facilitated all aspects of production – from hiring talent, set design, and principal photography, to administering and managing the film’s budget.

Filmed on location amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we created and successfully executed strategic safety procedures and protocols for our crew and talent to follow. We complied with all CDC and state guidelines, as well as health and safety protocols of Alameda County. We limited our crew to no more than six people in the space during production when the actors were performing. Our crew adhered to all social distancing and sanitary rules. All crew members were required to wear masks and gloves at all times during production. Actors were required to wear masks while on set when not performing.

The film has been entered into the 2021 San Francisco Film Festival.
